Discover Your Purpose Through Daily Action

We hear about purpose a lot. Find your purpose. Live on purpose. Know your purpose. Follow your purpose and success will follow.

I get it. There was a time in my life where I didn’t really understand what my purpose was. I didn’t know what I contributed, my job felt meaningless, and I really did feel like something was wrong with me for not being able to figure it out.

Do you ever feel that way? You have a longing to contribute. You know deep down you do have a purpose. Maybe you can’t quite articulate it, but it’s there. Maybe you’re not quite sure where to start, but you can feel in your soul that there’s more to your job, to your relationships, to how you feel about yourself, to what you offer the world.d.

And there is!!

But where to start? Where can you start to figure out your purpose? I break this down in more detail in the video above (so watch the video!), but here are the key points:

#1) Think about your world, not the entire world. I believe that purpose and making a difference are connected. Ask yourself how you can make a difference for the people in your life today. Start to notice the patterns -- these patterns will start clarifying for you what your purpose is.

#2) Pay attention to how often you're reminded of the positive impact that you make on people's lives. Again, start seeing patterns because these will help you see where your purpose lies.

#3) Tally up your contributions and all the ways you've contributed or given back to organizations, people or causes in the last six months. Also, write down all the ways in which you add value at your job, at home, with your family and friends, in your community, etc. Any time we contribute our time, our expertise, or our money to things that are important to us, we are creating purpose and meaning.

#4) Be intentional about creating purpose and adding value. Create purpose by doing something purposeful. Add value by doing something of value. Make the decision that you will be a person who has purpose and adds value. The more you do this, the more purpose you create, the more you will discover your purpose. And the more you discover your purpose, the more you will lean into it, and learn from it, and make it part of your identity.

Creating purpose in your daily life doesn’t need to be overwhelming. Start small and be consistent, and your purpose will get clarified day by day.

And, if you’re looking for help on clarifying your purpose and having someone support you on this journey, I invite you to book a discovery call to learn more about how I can help you live a purposeful, genuine, fulfilled life.

It’s so important that you’re clear on your purpose because that is how you shine your light more brightly and create positive impact.
