How to break free from excuses
Do you ever get pulled into low frequency energy? This can sound like:
I don’t feel like it
I’m too tired
I have to do this
Ugh, why bother?
This isn’t working
What’s the point?
I don’t what to do
🙋🏼♀️
I’m putting my hand up because I’ve said all these things and continue to catch myself muttering these thoughts under my breath on a pretty regular basis. Especially when I haven’t had a good night’s sleep. the weather is gloomy, I’m pms’ing, I’m feeling overwhelmed, I’ve scrolled on IG for too long, haven’t meditated or eaten properly.
The thing is, most of the time, these reasons are actually excuses and distractions, keeping us away from doing the thing that we actually need to be doing in order to move our business (and our life) forward.
The solution is to shift your energy.
How?
Start with noticing. When you become aware of yourself making excuses or being distracted by non-important things, stop. Become conscious of what you’re doing and say to yourself, “Oh, I’m making an excuse here” or “This is a distraction”. Awareness is the first step to creating change.
Be honest with yourself, but not judgemental. Lean into being curious and ask yourself, “What do I need to do to shut down this excuse/distraction?”
Re-energize or shift your energy. Figure out what works for you to get into a more positive frequency. Some ideas are:
move your body by going for a quick walk or dancing to some upbeat music
dump out your thoughts into your journal
close your eyes and visualize reaching your goal and how that will make you feel
hug your dog or cat
write out 3 things you’re grateful for
read through some testimonials or positive messages you’ve received
stretch or do some yoga
Reframe what you’re telling yourself. This can sound like:
I get to do this…
I’m excited to…
I know that this is moving me closer to my goal.
I am going to feel so accomplished (productive, proud, satisfied, etc.) after.
I’m in control here, not my feelings, not the distractions and not my excuses.
I choose to…
My clients are waiting to hear from me!
Taking action is how I’m going to get to where I want.
I’m being true to my word by doing this.
Remember that low frequency energy stalls your progress. Energy can be felt in all inter-personal interactions and travels through internet and phone lines. This is why it’s so important to be intentional with managing your energy.
